Driving Directions

Tahsis can be reached by car, boat or floatplane. 

From Nanaimo - head north on Highway 19 to Campbell River.
 
From Campbell River - head west on Highway 28 to Gold River.  This scenic drive is a fun two lane winding road that crosses Strathcona Provincial Park and skirts Buttle Lake.  Watch out for motorcyclists having fun. 

From Gold River - head west on the Tree to Sea Drive. Originally a logging road, it is a (64 km/40 mile) well maintained gravel road, which is regularly graded.  Yes, 'well maintained' is subjective, but when you see a post with 'GO CANUCKS GO' at about km 15, you will know that you've seen the worst of it, and it ain't that bad.  Parts of the road are paved, take your time as there are waterfalls, lakes, caves and mountain lookouts.  Watch out for wildlife (elk, deer, bears and loggers driving big trucks). Driving time from Gold River is just over an hour.
