Guest Services & Policies

Wireless Internet service is offered at no additional charge.  Please note that Tahsis does not have cell phone coverage - this can be a good thing.  Your cell phone will be out of range about 10 minutes west of Campbell River.  A telephone is available to guests, calls within Canada and continental US are free of charge.  Please try to limit the call duration to 15 minutes.  Call back number for your family or associates is 250.934.7975 – this number has a distinct ring different than the Nootka Gold published number. 

Both suites have television sets and dvd players, off-street parking and private entrances. 

Guests in the main floor suite have use of the propane barbeque, but must ensure that any food residue is burned off the grill by leaving the flame burning for an additional 5 minutes.  No food or garbage can be left outdoors.  Please visit www.bearsmart.com/ for additional information.  Bears habituated to people are not relocated, they are trapped and shot.  Please do not provide a food source for these animals.


Deposits & Payments:  A deposit of 50% of the quoted rate on stays of two or more nights, or 100% on one night stays is required within 10 days of booking date. The balance due is payable upon arrival. Cash, cheques, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Guests with Canadian online banking may also use e-transfers as a payment method.  
Check in/out Times:  Check in time is between 3 and 8 PM.  Early or late arrivals may be arranged. If you find that you will be arriving much later than expected, please call so I don’t send the mounties out to look for you. Check out time is 11 AM.  Late check-out is subject to additional fee of $20/hour. The check-in and check-out policies are in place so that the suites may be cleaned and readied for the next guests. If necessary, guests may store their belongings in a secure area at Nootka Gold after the 11 AM checkout, at no additional charge.  
Breakfast Service: Regrettably due to a large utility tax surcharge imposed on bed and breakfast businesses by the Village of Tahsis, Nootka Gold is now a guesthouse, and no longer offers breakfast service. The main floor suite has a fully outfitted kitchenette, and the upstairs suite has a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle for guest use.
Children: The open creek bed may present a hazard to unsupervised little ones – the recommended age for children is 6 and up. Please advise of your family’s needs prior to booking. 
No Pets: Regrettably there is no room for your pet or negotiation on this policy. There is a small dog on the premises, but it is not allowed in the guest suites. If you are unable to leave your pet with a trusted caregiver, please contact the Tahsis Motel 250.934. 6318 for your accommodation needs. Visitors arriving with pets will not be accommodated and will forfeit their deposit.  
No Smoking is allowed inside the house, ashtrays are provided for smoking outdoors. 
Cancellation Policy: 
More than two weeks notice: the deposit will be refunded less a $25 service charge per room
Within two weeks, and up to 48 hours before your arrival date: the deposit will be refunded if the reserved rooms are re-rented for the same rate. A $25 service charge per room will still apply.
Within 48 hours of your arrival date: the deposit will not be refunded and you will be charged for the entire stay. Early departures are regarded as cancellations.
